Funky start to 2008
Adamstown's dungeon jazz kicks off 2008 with one of Newcastle's most enduring bands, the Funky Do Das.
Combining a consuming passion for jazz, the influences of the '60s and '70s music they grew up with and fifteen years of performing, the four piece Funkys bring their own unique 'Swing'n, Groov'n, Latin, Funk'n' sound to dungeon jazz on February 7.
"The Funky Do Das are consummate musicians and entertainers," said dungeon jazz director, Rod Barnes.
"Across the board - from festivals, events and recording to national and overseas touring - they have etched for themselves an enviable reputation as fun entertainers who create brilliant music."
"Both the individual talents of Colin Stein (keys), Peter Gray (bass), Paul Isaacs (sax, flute) and Terry Morton (drums) and the group dynamic that comes from writing and performing together for some fifteen years, always guarantee the audience a great night out."
