MEDIA RELEASE

25 March 2008

³Not by Thursday² on on Thursday.

Youıd think jazz quartet Not by Thursday would have foreseen the potential for the name to cause confusion when the gig fell on a Thursday. Then again maybe they did and simply like to mimic Jim from TVıs The Vicar of Dibley: ³No no no no - Not by Thursday Yes! ŒNot by Thursdayı, Thursday, April 3, at Adamstownıs dungeon jazz.²

But after all, whatıs in a name when itıs the Funky Do Dası Paul Isaacs (saxophone) and Peter Gray (bass) teaming up with brilliant Dungeon Big Band guitarist Brian Saxby, and one of the regionıs hardest working and hottest drummers, Rob Coxon?

And in case thatıs not enough for you, they will be featuring special guests sultry singer, Jill Fraser and pianist extraordinaire, Jo Cadman (also of Dungeon Big Band fame).

dungeon jazz director, Rod Barnes, says it will be a great evening for people to catch some of the cityıs favourite, established, jazz musos.

³It was a case of standing room only when the Funkyıs kicked off our 2008 season in February. And we had a similarly strong turnout last month for the Daryl Aberhart Band. The Not by Thursday gig combines a bit of both of those jazz standards with a mix of specially composed and arranged songs, plus the bonus of Jill Fraserıs distinctive vocals.²
