Jazz Resurgence hits Newcastle
Whether you simply appreciate fine music, are a connoisseur of classical music or just love contemporary jazz, you will find it all with Mark Isaacs Resurgence Band at Adamstown¹s dungeon jazz on Thursday (July 3).
Put simply, Mark Isaacs is probably the most significant contemporary jazz pianist/composer/performer in the nation. A judgement shared not only across Australia but also throughout Asia, Japan, Europe, Russia and North America.
As an individual, Mark Isaacs has been universally acclaimed for his classical piano performance, classical music compositions over 75 of them and his jazz interpretation of classical works. His attributes have been likened to those of Leonard Bernstein (John Harding) and his jazz described as being as defining in the 21st century as Beiderbecke, Basie, Ellington, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis were in the 20th (All About Jazz (USA)).
Completing the quintet are four of Australia¹s best, who, like Mark, have played nationally and internationally with dozens of the most recognised bands and musicians in jazz, classical and popular music genres.
James Muller (guitar) - Maria Schneider, James Morrison, Renee Geyer
Matt Keegan (saxophone) - Jackie Orszaczky, The Beautiful Girls
